Effective from Jan.1st 2013, citizens from 45 countries listed hereinafter will not need to apply for transit visa if transiting via Beijing International airport, Shanghai Pudong and Hongqiao Airports, Guangzhou Baiyun airport and Chengdu Shuangliu airport directly to a third country or region within 72 hours while holding a confirmed connecting air ticket.

Please note that the travller can only stay within the city of arrival, i.e.Beijing or Shanghai.
