The Thai Government Releases the Latest Data on Casualties

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Thailand released an announcement on the early morning of January 7, 2005 that by late night of January 6, 2005, 5,291 deaths have been discovered in the tsunami-hit southern Thailand, among whom there are 2,568 Thais, 2,510 foreigners and 213 with the nationality unidentified. 8,457 persons are injured, among whom there are 6,065 Thais and 2,392 foreigners. 3750 persons are still missing, among whom there are 2,427 Thais and 1,143 foreigners.
