Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and French President's Diplomatic Adviser Emmanuel Bonne on Tuesday co-chaired the 25th China-France Strategic Dialogue in Paris.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France. Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, urged the two sides to work together for a more solid and dynamic China-France comprehensive strategic partnership guided by the strategic consensus reached by the two heads of state, make greater contribution to the development of China-EU relations and make unremitting efforts for world peace.

Noting that China and France share similar positions on major issues, Wang said that China is ready to strengthen strategic communication with France, reach more consensus and improve solidarity and cooperation to respond more effectively to global challenges as well as the expectations of the international community.

China regards Europe as an important pole in the multi-polar process and supports Europe in strengthening its strategic independence and keeping its future firmly in its own hands, Wang noted.

Bonne said that France attaches great importance to the France-China comprehensive strategic partnership, will continue to pursue the one-China policy and is ready to work with China to avoid major-country confrontation and bloc confrontation and improve global governance. France supports the EU and China in upholding their partnership and strengthening effective cooperation, he added.

The two sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation in areas including climate change, biodiversity conservation, agricultural and food products, clean energy, nuclear energy research and development, artificial intelligence and aerospace.

They also reached agreement on hosting hundreds of cultural and people-to-people exchanges as this year marks the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism, and increasing direct flights to facilitate people-to-people exchanges.
