2008-06-13

On June 13, 2008, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with German Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai.

Wen said that maintaining healthy and stable relations benefits both countries and the two peoples and is also a demand of the times for joining hands to cope with global challenges. China and Germany share more common interests than differences. "As long as we follow the principles of mutual respect, equality and reciprocity to strengthen dialogue and consultations, cooperation in all fields could continue to make progress," said Wen.

Steinmeier said Germany values its relationship with China and will enhance dialogue and cooperation on bilateral and international issues to promote the development of bilateral ties.

On the same day, Wen also met with German entrepreneurs who accompanied Steinmeier on the China visit.

Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi attended the above-mentioned activities.
