On May 26, 2012, Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, congratulated Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on being elected chairman of the ruling United Russia party. Hu said he hoped the United Russia party could make even greater accomplishments in the cause of shaping a strong and prosperous Russia. Hu said that in the past few years, the relationship between China and Russia had seen rapid growth and bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields had been fruitful with the joint efforts of both sides. He also said China would like to work with the Russian side in further expanding bilateral pragmatic cooperation and strategic coordination so as to quicken the pace of development of the two nations, and to promote peace, stability and development in the region and the world. The establishment of a friendly relationship between the CPC and the United Russia party had enriched China-Russia ties, expanded bilateral exchanges and cooperation, and set up a key platform, on which the two countries could learn from each other the experience of administering state affairs, Hu said in the message. He said the CPC would like to further consolidate and enhance its friendly ties with the United Russia party, and promote the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination between the two countries based on equality and mutual trust, mutual support, common prosperity and friendship for generations. |
